How you’re making a difference

Today in the UK, 1 in 7 families are going hungry and over 2 million children don’t have enough food to grow, learn and thrive. Too many families are going to bed hungry and then waking up to another day without enough food to eat.

This has real, long-term consequences for children – affecting their health, development and future opportunities.

The money you raise helps organisations up and down the UK who are supporting families and children to access good food through food clubs, after-school dinners, meals during the school holidays, and more.

“Having a cup of tea, instead of eating is just normal.”

“I would have worried all day that I wasn’t able to feed the kids. I might not be able to make a decent meal, but if there is anything leftover in the freezer that I could rustle together, just so they could have a full stomach before bed.”

“I’ve eaten nothing but beans so my little boy could eat properly.”

The impact of your fundraising

Below are some stories that have been shared from families who have been supported by Comic Relief and Sainsbury’s. Names have been changed to protect anonymity.

“Since the cost of living started to rise so quickly, every month has been a struggle. For my family, being able to go to the food club has meant that we have not had to worry about whether or not we can use our heating or hot water.”

“When other families are looking forward to the sun or going away somewhere nice, my stomach sinks with this awful knot in it, knowing we are going to struggle. But this year, I knew that support was there, and it was such a relief.”
